Stampings

The stamping manufacturing process is the production of a metal part or stamping by using a number of different methods. The metal stamping process involves the possible combination of punching, bend forming, piercing, draw forming, blanking, coining, or shearing and is used in either a machine press, stamping press, fourslide, transfer press, or turret press. The method selected to manufacture the metal stamping is dependent on the part geometry and the cost effectiveness to produce the part. Each method requires tooling in which it will perform single or separate operations. Rowley Spring and Stamping Corp.’s methods of manufacturing are:

  • Progressive Die Stamping or Progressive Metal Stamping
  • Four slide Stamping or Multislide Stamping
  • Blanking

Generally, metal stamping is carried out by feeding coiled metal stock into a die mounted into a power press stamping machine. The width and thickness of the material and the machine tonnage will be determined by the customer’s part design. As the size and thickness of the part increases, so will the tonnage needed of the power press stamping machine in order to handle all operations required to fabricate the part.

Tooling design and fabrication is handled internally by our own talented staff of toolmakers. Rowley Spring and Stamping Corp. has developed a strict set of design specifications necessary to ensure tool longevity and allow for ease of tool maintenance. Our experience and knowledge of tooling has allowed us to design for maximum efficiency with less downtime in performing tool maintenance.
