Fourslide (or Multislide) Wire Forms
A fourslide (also referred to as multislide) is a versatile machine that has the ability to run both flat coil stock to make metal stampings and wire of any type to make wireforms.
The fourslide fabrication process is not entirely familiar to a number of people within the manufacturing industry and that’s because of its specialized nature. It has the ability to make parts with complex shapes and bends can mirror the part production from a CNC, but at a much better production rate.
In fourslide wire fabrication, there is usually one main working section, but a die section can be used to provide additional details that you cannot achieve with just the slide section alone. The slide or forming area has four slide which are activated by separate cams that move, or “slide” the tool into the wire to perform its specific function. Each slide will approach the wire from four different positions, thereby giving it its name “fourslide”. Prior to the wire advancing to the slide section, there is a die section that will perform certain functions such as swedging or some bends if needed. Not all fourslides are equipped with a die section and that’s because it is not always needed. Especially when fabricating a wire form which can be made with precision tolerances and higher run rates.
